Pricing Models
A pricing model defines how a price is calculated for a category or booking. Each category can be assigned exactly one pricing model. A booking may consist of several line items from different categories. The My Rental app offers volume pricing models and tiered pricing.
Volume Pricing Model
The volume pricing model lets you set prices based on the rental duration.
Example scenario:
The Mountain Bike category is assigned the pricing model shown below, using volume-based calculation. A customer rents two mountain bikes for 10 days. The price is calculated as follows:
- 10 (days) * 2 (units) * 12 € = 240 €
- Total price: 240 €
| Tier | Price per time unit (day) and tier |
|---|---|
| up to 7 days | 15 € |
| from 8 to 14 days | 12 € |
| from 15 days | 10 € |
Tiered Pricing
Alternatively, prices can be calculated in tiers. This means the rental duration is split across the price tiers. In general, this calculation results in higher prices.
Example scenario:
The Mountain Bike category is assigned the pricing model shown below, using tiered calculation. A customer rents two mountain bikes for 14 days. The price is calculated as follows:
- Tier 1: 7 (days) * 2 (units) * 15 € = 210 €
- Tier 2: 7 (days) * 2 (units) * 12 € = 168 €
- Total price: 378 €
| Tier | Price per time unit (day) and tier |
|---|---|
| up to 7 days | 15 € |
| from 8 to 14 days | 12 € |
| from 15 days | 10 € |
